ALEX DAVIS  |  GRADUATE ASSISTANT

Born in Harbor City, CA, Alex Davis was named Athlete of the Year at Bishop Montgomery High School (Torrance, CA) graduating in 2009. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Minnesota and in 2013, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Davis is currently an Assistant Coach on the USA Athletics 18 Gold travel softball team based out of Long Beach and a Graduate Assistant for the Mariners under Ashley Esparza as she pursues her M.B.A at Marymount California University.

 

ALYSSA CRUZ-FERNANDEZ  |  ASSISTANT COACH

Alyssa Cruz-Fernandez joins the Marymount California Women's Softball coaching staff in her first year as an Assistant Coach. Born in Harbor City and raised in Carson, CA, she went to San Pedro High School and lettered in two sports, Softball and Volleyball. Cruz-Fernandez was a part of the CIF Softball Championship team in 2009 as a sophomore and made two semifinal appearances with the Pirates in 2010 and 2011.   Cruz-Fernandez competed at Cal State Dominguez Hills starting as a true freshman and helped the Toros and Head Coach Jim Maeir earn their 400th win. That same year she hit the "Shot Heard 'Round the NCAA West Region" after belting a walk-off 3-run home run against Sonoma State, All-American pitcher and CCAA Pitcher of the Year, Samantha Lipperd to propel Toros to NCAA West Region title game. She was a defensive threat in the outfield with only one error in her 2014 and 2015 seasons combined. Ending her Senior Season in 2015, she was errorless, going 3 for 3 with a solo home run in the Toros Senior game. She will graduate from Cal St Dominguez Hills in May 2016 with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology.
